Warriors edge Cape Cobras

2015-01-19 00:00

THE Chevrolet Warriors edged the Nashua Cape Cobras by 16 runs in a classic Sunfoil Series thriller at St George’s Park in Port Elizabeth yesterday, thanks to the all-round excellence by Andrew Birch, and despite heroic contributions by Dane Vilas, SA Engelbrecht and a valiant 10th-wicket stand.

The Cobras, set a winning target of 322 following a 83-ball 88 by Birch, were dismissed for 305.

The visitors launched a determined effort in their quest for their first win of the Sunfoil Series, despite fielding many fringe players.

The Cobras 10th-wicket pair, Justin Kemp and Dane Paterson, fought courageously. They added 68 runs off 72 balls to give their supporters hope.
