Warriors trouble Dolphins

2015-01-10 00:00

EAST LONDON — The Dolphins had their backs to the wall as they struggled to 137 for five in reply to the Warriors’ 458 for six declared at the close of day two in East London yesterday.

Bad light brought an early end to a trying day, 321 runs behind.

The Dolphins had struggled from the start, losing Imraan Khan with one run on the board before Basheeru-Deen Walters struck twice in the sixth over to dismiss Divan van Wyk (9) and Vaughn van Jaarsveld (0) with the total on 12.

Only Daniel Sincuba offered any resistance to the early onslaught, scoring 49 off 82 balls, until he was undone by a vicious short ball from Walters to be caught at mid-on.

After Cody Chetty was bowled by Sisanda Magala for 19, Sincuba and Daryn Smit dug in to put on 57 for the fifth wicket, attempting to bring a touch of respectability to the batting. Smit was still battling on determinedly on 31, with Robbie Frylinck on 16 at the close.
