A POLICE station commander led from the front to arrest a “well known” drug dealer on Wednesday.
The station commander from Wartburg, Captain Phumlani Zondi, was on his way to work in the morning when he saw a car speeding towards Swayimane, said police spokesperson Joey Jeevan.
“He immediately contacted other members at the police station to stop the vehicle ahead. However, the driver refused to stop.”
After a high speed chase through Wartburg, the driver was forced to bring his vehicle to a stop near the Spar shopping centre,” said Jeevan.
After a search, police found 32 g of tik and 92 g of dagga with a street value of several thousand rand. The suspect (29) was arrested and was expected to make an appearance in the New Hanover Magistrate’s Court soon.
“He is believed to be a well known drug lord supplying school children in the Swayimane area of Wartburg,” said Jeevan.
