Weather: Damper than usual winter on the way

2008-06-09 00:00

Temperatures around KZN are set to rise from today.

The high Drakensberg was yesterday covered in a mantle of snow.

Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife spokesman Jeff Gaisford said that nobody had to be rescued. “It’s been quiet so far and there is plenty of snow at the top of the high Berg,” he added.

Although most snow seekers were disappointed, those who travelled up to Sani Top Chalet were rewarded.

Anri van Zyl, of Sani Pass Hotel, said that it was still snowing on the peaks yesterday morning.

The weather office has predicted above-average rainfall with below-average temperatures for the rest of winter.
