Weather conditions force playoffs to be moved

2011-11-01 00:00

DAMP conditions last week caused the postponement by the KwaZulu-Natal Inland Cricket Union of the semi-finals in both the primary and high school challenges. These, together with the two finals, will now take place next week.

A reserve day has been set aside in case one of the days is again washed out.

On November 8 the first primary school semi-final will take place at 3 pm between Laddsworth and St Charles Prep. This will be followed at 6 pm with the first semi in the high schools’ challenge between Howick and the KZN Invitation XI.

On November 9 Merchiston will play Pelham in the second primary school semi-final at 3 pm. The second high school semi will be at 6 pm between Mooi River neighbours and rivals, Treverton and Weston.

The finals will be on November 10 with the primary schools playing at 3 pm and the high schools at 6 pm. November 11 will be used if rain washes out play on one of the days.

KZNICU is hoping that the schools will have good support, particularly in the final.

A headline on the sports page of The Witness last week gave incorrect details of the Sunfoil Schools’ Night League. This competition between the top schools will be ongoing during the first term next year and it is the primary school and high school Sunfoil Challenge that has been moved to this term.
