Westville host KES, College travel to Pretoria for Affies clash

2011-05-28 00:00

WITH the Independent schools taking a half term break this weekend, there are just three top games on the astros today and one is in Pretoria.

Westville will host KES from Johannesburg. The KZN team have had a remarkable rise in the standard of their play since the early part of the season and they will be confident of a win this morning. Westville played two sides during the Easter festival who also face KES recently.

Against St Davids Westville drew without a goal being scored and against Rondebosch they lost 0-4. KES beat St Davids 3-1 and Rondebosch 3-0, both in the last few weeks. This makes the Gauteng side favourites, but Westville will have other ideas.

The game at Riverside where DHS host Glenwood could be one-sided if the results of the two schools are anything to go by. DHS lost 2-8 against Westville, while Glenwood beat Westville 3-1. The two schools have not played another common opponent, but Glenwood are unbeaten and DHS are yet to win a big game. This situation is unlikely to change in today’s game.

Maritzburg College travel to Pretoria to play Affies, another side that has improved radically since their own artificial surface was built.

However College will be unlikely to lose against the team that drew with St Albans and lost against KES. These two teams lost convincingly against College.

Fixtures in brief: Westville vs KES; DHS vs Glenwood; Affies vs Maritzburg College; Northwood II vs Hillcrest
