Westville look the side to beat

2011-08-09 00:00

WITH the government schools having a holiday yesterday, the soccer reports were not forthcoming. There were, however, plenty of games played.

Locally Carter are putting up their hands and producing some good results.

Westville again looks as if they will be the side to beat this year, with DHS possibly being their strongest opposition.

Carter played Greytown and won 2-0 in a hard-fought encounter. Mafika Ndlovu was instrumental in Carter’s win. Last Wednesday they had an emphatic 6-1 victory against Grace College.

Westville beat a game St Charles team 1-0, and Glenwood and Maritzburg College, who have only had their first and second sides playing soccer thus far this season after still being involved in hockey and rugby, played one another on Saturday morning. Glenwood triumphed 3-1 in the first-team game.

Some results: Carter 2 Greytown 0; Carter 6 Grace 1; Westville 1 St Charles 0; Glenwood 3 M College 1; Kearsney 2 Clifton 1; DHS 3 Pinetown 2; Michaelhouse 3 Kearsney 2; Glenwood 3 Northwood 2.
