Stonecroft Ministries - After 9 Club hosts a women's morning meeting on April 14 at the Maritzburg Golf Club at 9am for 9.30. Audiologist Dr Janine Pisula, will explain to that help is at hand for diminished hearing. This will be followed by a talk by Sue Smart on how her family survived a brutal attack and how they eventually learned how to forgive. R25 includes refreshements. Booking essential. Howick Birding Group hosts a talk on April 15 at 6pm by Iain Guthrie, who will talk on his book on his days as a schoolboy at Michaelhouse, called ‘Free Bounds’. The April meeting of the Decorative Arts Society will be held in the Heritage Hall, St John's United Church on April 23 at 244 Jabu Ndlovu Street at the usual time of 12.30 pm for 1pm. The Annual General Meeting at noon will be followed by talk by Dr Jill Cox entitled "Around the World in 54 Days". Jill travels from Japan around the northern latitudes illustrating her lecture with spectacular photos. Gala Music Performance at the Memorial Concert Hall at Hilton College, in celebration of the refurbishment of the hall. The event takes place on April 24 at 7.30pm and is a showcase for the Hilton College choir and instrumentalists, both solo and ensembles ranging from Classical (Choir; Dlala Kanye; Combined St Anne’s/Hilton orchestra) to African (Marimba), and Jazz. Umgeni Steam Railway are running a special Easter Inchanga Train on April 12 and 13. It runs from Kloof to Inchanga and back to Kloof. The cost for adults is R130, children R100 and pensioners R110 and departure times are 8.30am and 12.30pm. It stops at the Inchanga Station for an hour for refreshments and a whole lot more.
