• Rock-‘n-roll blues band The Cheap Bad Habits will be performing live at the Red Door. Entrance will be R10 before 9 pm and R30 thereafter.

• Jol presents Sweet 16 with DJ Tira at Café Vacca Matta. The line-up also includes DJs Sduz, Andile, Libraz, T-Roxter and Kgotso. The entrance fee is R50 per person.

• The Bifocals will be performing at the Hilton Arts Festival in the festival marquee from 6 pm until late. There is no entrance fee.

• Guy Buttery and Nibs van der Spuy will be ­performing live in concert at the Hilton College Chapel (Hilton Arts Festival) from 8 pm. Tickets are R100.

• A tribute concert in memory of the late maskanda maestro, Shiyani Ngcobo, will take place from 11.30 am to 1.15 pm at UKZN’s Howard College Theatre. Refreshments will be on sale, and the money will go towards raising funds to assist the bereft Ngcobo family. Please be generous.

• Afrikaans artist Lee Vaughn will be visiting ­Pietemaritzburg again this weekend to perform at Shunter’s Pub, Cosmos Road (Cleland), from 8 pm until late. The entrance fee is R100, and as there is only space for 85 people, booking is essential. For more information, phone ­033 396 6623.



• Andile Yenana Quartet and the Unlocked Keys in concert at the Rainbow Restaurant, made ­possible through the assistance of the eThekwini Municipality’s Department of Arts and Living ­Cultures. Doors open at noon, and the first set will be just after 1 pm. Tickets are R50 presale and R80 at the door, so it’s best to buy your tickets early.

• UKZN School of Music hosts Richard Haslop, who will be presenting a programme of blues and traditional and contemporary folk music, accompanying himself and his guest, songwriter Jaspar Lepak, on slide guitar, dobro and mandolin. The show is at the Howard College Theatre from 12.15 pm.



• Arlyn and the Gloucestor Blues Project are next up at the Maritzburg Musicians’ Club at the Red Door. Entry fee is R30, and doors open at 8 pm.

• October 22: Lira will be performing at the ICC in Durban, from 8 pm.

• October 28: Spring Festival at the Golden Horse Casino, featuring performances by Elvis Blue, Lady Lea, Teargas, Mario Ogle, and Lloyd Cele. General, VIP tickets are available through Computicket and at Shoprite checkers stores, with prices starting at R100.
