WOULD you like to conduct an orchestra and have 60 musicians in the palm of your hand?

This privilege is the dream of many a classical-music lover, who has sat quietly directing the music while listening to an orchestra on a CD recording. Now, one lucky ticket holder will get the chance to do it for real at the All Time Top Classics concert at the Pietermaritzburg City Hall on March 5.

All you have to do to qualify is SMS your name and the words Witness Conductor to 34419. The winner will be drawn at the concert and will get the chance to conduct the encore.

The KZN Philharmonic Orchestra, under the baton of Naum Rousine, will perform Rossini’s William Tell Overture, Tchaikovsky’s Polonaise from Eugene Onegin, Barber’s Adagio for Strings, Vivaldi’s Four Seasons: Spring and Piazzola’s Grand Tango at the All Time Top Classics concert. Joining them on stage are soloists Boris Kerimov (cello) and Elena Kerimova (violin).

Tickets, ranging from R80 to R150, can be booked at the Dulce Café at Parklane SuperSpar at 033 342 3487 or at Computicket.

Refreshments will be on sale, and safe and secure parking, monitored by security personnel, will be available at the city hall, Freedom Square, Tatham Art Gallery and on Church Street.
