Winners of the prestigious Innoxa Ladies Fours Tournament

THE Innoxa Ladies Fours Tournament was played at Maritzburg Bowling Club last weekend, kindly sponsored by the Innoxa Factory Shop.

Anne Ramsay, Belinda Nobin, Ann Allan and Debbie Nobin won this very prestigious and popular tournament. In second place were Jean Squires, Emily Fortune, Barbara Shaw and Trish Robinson.

In third place were Heather Phelan, Sheila Peech, Pam de Waal and Gill McCalgan. The trophy was presented by Bob Radcliffe.

The first-session prize was won by Laurette Barnard, Rose Varty, M. du Plessis and Roni Bearpark. The second-session prize was won by Rene Myklebust, Denise von Mayer, Phil Wood and Geraldine van Rooyen. The third-session prize was won by Jean Rees, Avril Detleefs, Heather Bezuidenhout and Pam Spring.

The spider competition, held in aid of the National Association for Blind Bowlers, raised R230. The spider badge was won by Mandy Findlay. Lynn Bigg and Lynn Brooker won the first touchers of the tournament.

A delighted Squires won the booze hamper, and a surprised Clive Lucarne won the Moulinex Open Matic, which was duly presented to his wife, Maureen.

The Association wished to thank Distell, the Mndeni Meat Group, Blomeyers’ Electrical and the ladies of Maritzburg Bowling Club, as well as Jo Hackland and her team for the excellent catering arrangements.

Club Activities: League practices for men and women players tomorrow. The mens’ singles is down to the last eight and the ladies’ singles is down to the last four. Sponsored Competitions: The next 68 on Main Competition will be held today at 1.30 pm. Social Bowls: every Tuesday morning, tabs in by 8.30 am and Thursday afternoon tabs in by 1.30 pm — casual dress. Saturday tabs in by 1.30 pm, whites. Visitors and new members are always welcome. Coaching is available on Mondays at 2.30 pm.

Kitchen open daily (other than Mondays) for breakfast and lunches. Pensioners’ special lunches on the first Tuesday and last Thursday of the month at R25.
