FOLLOWING last year’s successful Enriched Management Studies Programme (EMS) winter school, UKZN’s College of Law and Management Studies Teaching and Learning unit will be hosting two Winter School programmes from July 6 to 12 on the Westville campus.

The EMS Winter School and the Literacy Winter School programmes are aimed at grades 10, 11 and 12 high school pupils from the provinces’ disadvantaged schools in a bid to curb the high dropout rate and assist in ensuring that when pupils reach Grade 12.

This year, the week-long initiative will accommodate 220 pupils from the province’s schools and the programme will offer tuition in English, Mathematics and Accounting. In addition to this educational offering is the Literacy Winter School which is a week-long programme designed for 150 Grade 10 and 11 pupils. The programme aims to equip pupils with critical skills in preparation for the Higher Education experience and most importantly access to higher education institutions.
