Witness Hilton arts Festival: Great line-up of shows

2008-09-02 00:00

Booking for the 2008 Witness Hilton Arts Festival at Hilton College from September 12 to 14 is well under way, with the best line-up for years.

Highlights include the flagship production, John Kani’s Nothing but the Truth. Kani’s debut as a playwright was described by the New York Times as “a deeply felt portrait that delicately weaves the extraordinary and the ordinary in its characters’ lives”.

On the lighter side, the ever-popular Shirley Valentine makes an appearance, with Lisa Bobbert as the middle-aged housewife who goes on a holiday to Greece for a liberating adventure.

For dance enthusiasts, there is one performance only of Shall we Dance, with belly dancing, modern and ballroom presented by dancers Ryan Hammond and Lyndsay Muckel, both Strictly Come Dancing competitors.

Comedy acts include Mark Banks and Rob van Vuuren.

Booking kits are available at major Spar outlets, the Witness offices at 45 Willowton Road, Exclusive Books, Book World at Cascades or you can log on to www.artslink.co.za/hilton for the full festival programme. For more information phone 033 383 0026.
