Women’s month kicks off at Mall

2010-07-26 00:00

AUGUST is Women’s Month and Liberty Midlands Mall is the place to be as it starts the month off with its annual Insights and Inspirations celebration.

Hosted by Ingrid Roberts, the event, which takes place on Saturday, August 7, is an upmarket chat show where celebrity guests share the stage with local “sheroes” — women who have excelled in a personal or business capacity.

This celebration, the fourth of its kind at the mall, plays to sell-out audiences who are pampered and spoilt at the celebration, and it’s no different this time round.

The R200 ticket buys a three-course dinner and includes a gift from Clinique valued at R275. Complimentary champagne and chocolates await each guest on arrival and the dress code is smart.

With the cover-girl from Destiny magazine, Ipeleng Mkhari as the celebrity guest, it will be glamour all the way. Two local women will also share their stories with the audience. There are great prizes to be won, including a weekend for two at the five-star luxury boutique Hotel Izulu in Ballito.

The event also highlights and raises money for a charity, and this time the beneficiary is PADCA, which cares for the aged. The charity will share stories about the work done by its staff in raising the level of care at Riverside to become one of the top frail-care facilities in Pietermaritzburg. The organisation also does a lot of community work, establishing senior clubs and resolving community conflicts. Several home-based care groups have been trained by PADCA and are assisting elderly women who are unable to move into frail care because of their responsibilities at home.

Another highlight of the evening will be a performance by three Maritzburg College male singers who have been astounding audiences throughout the country with their beautiful voices.

The talented trio recently won an award for their singing .

Tickets are still available for the event and booking is essential.
