Woodlands: Meeting to discuss land invasions

2014-08-20 00:00

WOODLANDS residents are invited to an urgent meeting today to discuss the ongoing illegal land invasions in the area.

The meeting will be held at 6.30 pm in the Woodlands Hall. One of the organisers, Merle Williams, said the situation had got out of hand.

“Yesterday the illegal invaders were burning trees on the vacant land. This is despite the fact that there is a court case over the matter.”

Williams said after an impromptu meeting on Monday, residents formed a task team to patrol the area. She added it was fortunate that members of the team were patrolling the area when they spotted the fires. “The flames may have spread and burnt nearby buildings.”

Williams said the meeting was convened by a group of concerned residents who were fed up with the invasions and living under constant threat by the invaders. She urged all residents to attend the meeting.
