Work fraud: woman in court

2013-07-20 00:00

A PIETERMARITZBURG woman appeared briefly in court yesterday charged with defrauding her employer, McBeans, of R805 492 between March 2011 and May this year.

According to the state’s charge sheet, the woman, who lives in Prestbury, transferred money

belonging to McBeans to her personal savings and current

accounts electronically on various occasions, and also deposited company cheques into her gold credit card.

The 46-year-old was not asked to plead to the charges yesterday.

The case was postponed to July 30 for a bail hearing.

She was remanded in custody in the interim.
