THE KwaZulu-Natal National Botanical Garden is one of Pietermaritzburg’s environmental treasures, with a wide variety of exotic indigenous trees, some more than 100 years old.

This month’s Woz’Ocheka tour on Sunday will give participants the chance to learn about some of the more spectacular and precious trees in the gardens in Mayor’s Walk.

The two-and-a-half hour tree walk will be led by Senzo Khanyile. A bus to the gardens is available from the Voortrekker/Msunduzi Museum in Langalibalele Street or you can meet the party at the main entrance at 10 am.

Unless you are a member of the Botanical Society there will an entrance fee of R15 for adults and R10 for scholars and pensioners.

Bring hats and water bottles and, at your own expense, you can choose to end the tour with lunch in the Strelitzia Room where a jazz band will be playing.

To book a seat on the bus, call Pietermaritzburg Tourism at 033 345 1348. The cost is R50 Please book in advance. — Arts Editor.
