Xbox One vs PlayStation 4 in year’s big tech rivalry

2013-11-26 00:00

IT has literally become a console war, as was expected, as Microsoft’s Xbox One faces off against Sony’s PlayStation 4, the biggest tech rivalry to be witnessed this year.

While the Xbox One has no set date of launch in South Africa — prices are expected to peak at around R7 000 — the PlayStation 4 is expected to be sold in the country from as early as December 6 at a cost of R6 299.

While the price of the Xbox One is significantly higher than the PlayStation, the Xbox comes standard with the motion control camera, and the PlayStation motion controller needs to be purchased separately. Speculation is that the Xbox One may only reach South African shores by next year, which may hurt sales for the console in the country, especially with the early launch of the PlayStation 4.
