‘Youth Scrutinize’ event

FROM the organiser of last year’s Old School Hip Hop Music Extrava nganza , which took place in Pietermaritzburg, comes Youth Shakedown ’09. The theme is “Youth Scrutiniz’n” powered by the Scrutinize Campaign.

The event will cover elements of entertainment including poetry, R’nB, hip hop, krump dance and drama. Audiences can expect free T-shirts and caps, brandoms, an educational fun hour with the Scrutinize Team, as well as celebrity appearances by Welile Tembi (stage actress) and Silver Shabalala (former Pirates ’keeper, Foot­ballers4Life).

The event will also feature stage-shaking performances by Spar10z, Ntsiki Mazwai, Abduss, Bonezito, Mario, Botsotso and many more.

People attending the show are encouraged to take with them candles to light during the moment of silence for the youth who died, both in the 1976 uprising and in recent times through HIV/Aids.

The event is run by Luniqué Entertainment, with the assistance of the Department of Arts, Culture and Tourism, USAID and DramAidE.
