Zola Budd: Running legend to conduct clinic at Grace College in Hilton

2012-10-04 00:00

ZOLA BUDD, former Olympic track and field competitor who in less than three years twice broke the world record in the women’s 5 000 m and twice was the women’s winner at the World Cross Country Championships, will be in Pietermaritzburg this weekend conducting running clinics in Hilton.

Budd, who completed her first Comrades Marathon this year, will be teaming up with Shaun Meiklejohn, winner of the Comrades in 1995, who has 10 gold and 14 silver medals to his name, to host runners at Grace College for what promises to be a very informative session for runners of all levels.

Budd will be discussing the “building blocks” of running and how runners can improve their form and performance with an understanding of these basic principles.

Everyone is welcome to attend the 10 am session and at 2 pm there will be a development clinic where the 20 candidates who have been selected from previously disadvantaged communities will receive a certificate for attending and a free pair of running shoes.

For more information about the running clinic, contact Shaun Meiklejohn on 083 439 7497 or e-mail him at shaun@conan.co.za for a registration form to attend.
