Zulu Coast: Manager named at Film Office

THE Zulu Coast Film Office has appointed a new manager.

The Richards Bay-based company, which is managed by uThungulu District Municipality and the Mhlosinga Development Agency (uMkhanyakude), appointed Noxy Mavundla to the post.

Mavundla has been in the film industry for a decade and comes armed with a BA degree in motion picture medium and live performance from Johannesburg Film School.

uThungulu District municipal manager Mandla Nkosi, welcomed the new manager on board, saying he was confident that she would attain the goals of the region’s film sector.

“We aim for the Film Office to be a film information hub for the region by keeping locals abreast with latest news and developments.”

Mavundla has a production budgeting and scheduling certificate from Monash University, attended the National Film and Video Foundation Sediba’s finance course for producers and won two awards at the Durban FilmMart in 2011; for the Best Pitch Award for a feature film This Boy.

She was the executive producer for This Boy and was invited by the Durban International Film Festival in 2012 to be part of a panel discussing international training initiatives for filmmakers.

“The Zulu Coast offers a one-stop prime environment for film-making and offers an attractive and well packaged deal of health care, transportation, wildlife and culture/heritage,” she said.

“This office endeavours to create a film-friendly environment in the entire region.”
