Zuma wife No. 5 has to wait a year

2009-01-09 00:00

The wedding of ANC president Jacob Zuma to his future fifth wife Thobeka Mabhija is set to take place next year.

Mabhija’s family completed the handing over of gifts to Zuma’s family this week. Zuma’s bride has been reported to be “glamorous, beautiful and outgoing”. She was born in 1973, grew up in Umlazi and completed her matric in Umlazi Commercial High School.

According to newspaper reports, Mabhija graduated with a BComm degree from the University of Zululand.

Reports last year highlighted Mabhija bragging about becoming the first lady following Zuma’s election at Polokwane to the presidency of the ANC. She denied this in a later interview.

Mabhija apparently met Zuma while he was KZN’s economic affairs MEC. The two have been dating for more than a decade and she has a child by Zuma. Zuma married his fourth wife, Nompumelelo Ntuli, last January.
