squash: midlands men off to winning start at jarvis/kaplan cup in jhb

THE Midlands men’s side got off to a winning start on the first day of the Price Waterhouse Coopers 50th Jarvis/Kaplan Cup in Johannesburg yesterday.

They beat a strong Western Province C side 16-6 with Justin Gouweloos, Alan McGuigan and Mick Gouweloos all having fine 3-0 wins.

The Midlands women’s side, playing in the Kaplan Cup B section, had a disappointing start, losing 17-7 to Free State A in the morning and 18-6 to Gauteng B in the afternoon.
