uShaka: New Year’s Eve BASH to go with a few amendments

2012-12-28 00:00

THE controversial uShaka Marine World bash in Durban that has enraged animal rights groups will go ahead, but with some tweaks.

Critics of the New Year’s Eve party met with organisers yesterday.

Judy Mann, the chief executive of the South African Association for Marine Biological Research, which runs the marine park, said that both sides met in good spirit.

The activists, from a network of environmental organisations and concerned people and calling themselves the Advocacy Group, were taken on a walkabout around the park to see where the party would take place.

They had made some submissions to the party organisers.

Mann declined to say what the proposals were, but confirmed the party would take place with some amendments to the original plans.

The Advocacy Group declined to comment.
