Idols' Freddie OK after bar fight

Johannesburg - Idols contestant Freddie Van'Dango is fit to continue competing after being injured in a fight outside a bar on Saturday.

According to Times Live, the Idols contestants were given the night off on Friday August 19 after their performances and the brawl happened in Greenside early on Saturday morning.

Ingrid Engelbrecht, M-Net's publicist for Original Productions, told Channel24 that the doctors have said Freddie will be able to continue on in the competition, although, according to her, "he looks a little worse for wear".

On Sunday the eccentric Idols contestant posted lyrics on his Facebook page, which seemed to refer to the brawl.

The post read: "Cos your knees are scratched and your eyes are black
Put a plaster there and I'll sign your cast
We're the best and the brightest, turn the television on
Have your seatbelts strapped and your helmets on" - Tokyo Police Club

On Monday Freddie's father, Matthys Moss, posted a message of support on his son's page, writing: "Freddie, dad. It will take a lot of guts and glory. BUT, be there on stage tomorrow! NEVER DIE! Remember your famous words in the beginning of this season! The truth would prevail! ALWAYS! Dad! Too many love you!"

Engelbrecht confirmed that depending on how Freddie is feeling, he should be on stage on Tuesday when the Top 8 results show takes place live on M-Net at 19:30.

M-Net will issue an official statement regarding the matter later on Tuesday.
