International TV show looking for Cape Town petrolheads

Melbourne- Cape Town has been included in a select list of ‘dream’ filming locations for the next instalment of the popular Auto TV series Garage Dreams.
The announcement follows the world premiere of the very first series on South African TV channel Ignition (DStv 189 )earlier this year.

Series Producer, Brett Hardy, wants to capture local stories in series two as a way of saying thank you to South Africa for the support.

Hardy said “We were thrilled when we heard the World Premiere of the Garage Dreams Series would be hosted by such a quality platform as Ignition. We knew Chasing Classic Cars and Shifting Gears were popular on the Ignition channel, and so it’s exciting to be included in that same class of quality programming."
"South African motor culture has an amazing collection of custom car and bike builders. In our stories there needs to be a sense of struggle, perhaps self-doubt, and definitely a creative streak in the build process. Plus, the dramatic coast line of the Cape Town area would really showcase the finished car or bike project. We would love to shoot a film or two in Cape Town next year and follow up on the interest that Jeremy Clarkson achieved with the Grand Tour across South Africa in June."
The Discovery Channel plans to broadcast the series in 2017 in territories outside of South Africa.
Each episode of Garage Dreams explores colourful, engaging and character-driven stories about people who build their own car and bike ‘dreams’ in the garage.
Series one of Garage Dreams was shot on location in Melbourne, Auckland and Los Angeles and is a co-production between Australian Production Companies Journey Media and Broken Arrow Media.
