Pour it up! Beyoncé and Jay-Z bring their own bubbly to the Golden Globes

Cape Town – So, if you just watched the red-carpet arrivals, you might have missed the fact that Beyoncé, 38, and Jay, 50 were in attendance Sunday night's glitzy Golden Globes.

The chart-topping duo – who released a joint album in 2018 – skipped the photo opportunity and snuck in after the award show had already started.

They might have been late, but Bey and Jay do know how to party and brought their own bubbly to the event, which was held at the Beverly Hilton and hosted by Ricky Gervais.

In a photo - tweeted by Los Angeles Times reporter Amy Kaufman - the couple can be seen standing together as they watched Kate McKinnon present the Carol Burnett Award for Outstanding Contribution to Television to Ellen DeGeneres.

Next to The Carters appears to be a bodyguard (or member of the entourage) holding on to two bottles of Armand de Brignac Champagne in his hands.

Jay-Z bought the Champagne company for an undisclosed amount in 2014.

Why were the couple there? Well Beyoncé was nominated for best original song for the track Spirit from The Lion King remake soundtrack, which earned her a fourth Golden Globe nomination over the course of her incredible career.

The multiple award-winner lost out to I'm Gonna Love Me Again by Elton John and Bernie Taupin which was featured on the soundtrack to Rocketman.

South African viewers who missed the live broadcast of the Golden Globes on Monday morning can watch the rebroadcast at 20:00 on M-Net (DStv 101).
