Johannesburg – Local comic Schalk Bezuidenhout will be taking his comedy to the world, making his international festival debut at the Montreux Comedy Festival in Switzerland.

The festival is mainland Europe’s largest celebration of comedy, taking place this year from 30 November to 4 December. Schalk is set to take to the stage twice, with his first performnace being on 2 December and the second on 3 December as part of the Trending Comics International Gala.

Speaking about the exciting opportunity Schalk said in a press statement: “It’s one of the world’s best festivals so I am delighted to be able to share the stage with fellow comedians that I admire.”

The star also explained his process when it comes to working on new material. “If something is funny, it’s funny and it translates to global audiences. South African comedy is in a very, very good place right now and will continue to grow to a point that we can’t imagine.”
