US band The Internet heading to SA for the Cape Town Jazz fest

Cape Town – Grammy-nominated hip hop, neo-soul and R&B outfit The Internet is heading to Cape Town.

Taking to their Facebook page, the Cape Town International Jazz Festival announced the exciting news on Wednesday. "BREAKING NEWS! The Internet (USA) is heading to the 18th Annual Cape Town International Jazz Festival and officially concludes the #CTIJF2017 line-up! Join us for their first ever performance in South Africa on Saturday 1 April."

The post also includes a video by The Internet - featuring members Syd ‘tha kid’ Bennett, Matt Martians, Patrick Paige II, Christopher Smith and Steve Lacy - announcing that they are coming to SA.

Defying easy categorisation of their crossover multi-genre sounds, The Internet was christened as a result of the two producers – Syd (Sydney) and Matt Martians (real name Matthew Martins) - meeting on the net, then officially forming the band in 2011. They have since released three studio albums and three extended plays, with Ego Death, nominated for a Grammy – Best Urban Contemporary Album.

Show details:

The Internet will be playing at the Manenberg Stage on Saturday 1 April 2017 at the Cape Town International Jazz Festival. The festival is taking place on 31 March and 1 April 2017.

Limited day passes are still available at R690 from Computicket.
