There's hope for SA

2005-02-08 13:32

Oh well, it has been a thrilling series, with a lot of ups and downs.

As I write this it looks like England are going to do the dirty on us and take the series. They deserve it.

That's not to say that Smithy and the boys have not been worthy opponents, but Vaughan's warriors have been able to pick up the proverbial pace when required.

It's been great having the English here, but what's impressed me most is how South Africans have rallied around our team, doing everything possible to impress upon the squad that we are here for them.

It's been a long time since the media has been so critical and the fans so supportive.

This juxtaposition leaves me thinking that there is great hope for our country, while sadly at the same time, there are still calls for quotas coming from certain quarters.

Going back to Sepp Blatter's whirlwind trip to our shores. Who's the man?

He came in here and rocked the world of the plonkers trying to oust our treasured Mr Jordaan for top post in the 2010 organising committee.

It's about time somebody shook these Mapantsula up. For too long they've been allowed to steamroller their way through everyone and everything at every level of football.

Mr Blatter blew the whistle and called foul. If only he could stay, we would see all Premier league teams being dealt with consistently.

This way the teams that the powerful want out of the way would not land up receiving red cards conveniently dealt out to have the best players banned.

What a spectacle we would have if all teams had their own home grounds, refs weren't paid, and operation dribble were truly a success. Mind you it seems operation dribble just scared off the toddlers, leaving the big boys to play.

Bring Back Sepp!
