Come fly with us

"Peter Bennett, Airbus vice-president for Sales in Western Europe, says air traffic has been doubling every 15 years and tripling every 22 years and airlines now have to move more passengers onto fewer flights. Apart from building bigger planes, he says, an option was to make half of the seats in economy rear-facing, allowing an extra column of seats by eliminating the space between shoulders." - Sunday Times, April 22, 2007.

Dear potential traveller

We at Compress Airlines thank you for signing up for our hourly newsletter that aims to keep you informed of our various exciting travel specials and opportunities.

With over 10 000 daily flights across South Africa and the rest of the continent we surely rank as the biggest and busiest airline this side of the ozone hole.

We remind you at the outset that we will do our best to secure a space for you on one of our thousands of flights but we cannot always guarantee your booking.

We also cannot promise that our call centre staff will not pass on your credit card details to an international crime syndicate. We emphasise that all aspects of your dealings with us are conducted entirely at your own risk. We will not enter into any communication or correspondence with passengers, their families or their legal representatives.

Really special specials

Our before noon special today is our cut-price R2 500 Cape Town/Joburg return airfare. This is an amazing deal as you will be sitting on the lap of an existing passenger. We do not recommend this offer if you suffer from gastrointestinal discomfort, are taking medication for a psychological condition or have issues with intimacy.

We remind our overweight passengers that they can cash in on secure seats by offering two further passengers a berth on their laps. Dial 0800Fatlap and leave your details.

We have two further offers on the same flight, the R1 000 special for a space above the overhead luggage compartment. We remind passengers that you will be required to remain in a reclining position throughout the flight. This offer includes a special Compress Air tin of baked beans with your very own can opener.

We remind travellers that we have two "standing only" tickets left on our Port Elizabeth/Durban flight. We have one square of carpet space left outside the Business Class toilets (R250) and a further 10cm gap just in front of the crew's fold-up seat at the rear (R185.50). We have one opening - horizontal - in the aisle on our George/Durban flight (R150.00).

We do not offer a meal or bar service on any of our flights as space previously used for food trolleys is now available for use by our smaller, thinner travellers.

We remind elderly, wheelchair-bound passengers and unaccompanied minors of our winter "in the hold" specials. Save money sitting in your own wheelchair that we'll load in with the baggage - that's if we remember to wheel you in off the tarmac. For an additional R80 we'll secure your wheelchair to prevent unnecessarily movement during take-off and landing.

Our researchers have found that animals and children usually get on well and so we have revamped some of the animal cages in the hold to accommodate minors safely.

Thank you for your support and may we remind you that you will be responsible for carrying your luggage to and from the aircraft and placing and removing it from the hold.

Have a great trip and thank you for flying Compress.
