Stop the clocks. Today was social media day – the most important day of the year

The boss walks past. Facebook again? It’s Social Media Day, you say, flashing a broad smile. 

Social Media Day. And it falls on a Tuesday. This cannot be good for productivity or a company’s internet usage figures. 

Social media, or online communication websites, are certainly gaining popularity. From bragging about holidays, to discussing the latest news or happenings, to keeping in touch with friends and family across the world, to running a business platform or selling goods and services, social media is big business. 

The more accounts one has, the cooler one is. 

Forget that important meeting. That farewell for a colleague. That report you were supposed to have handed in yesterday. 

It’s Social Media Day. 

Tweet it out. Whatsapp your mates. Post it on Facebook. Then Google+. Take a picture of yourself doing it all and post it on Instagram. After Instagram, load it on Flickr. Then Snapchat. 

You’re getting into it now. Time to update Tumblr. And YouTube. And Vine. Why stop now? 

Sign up to VK for good measure. You never know when you’re going to Europe. It may come in handy some time. And Renren. It’s really popular in China. 

The boss walks past again. Darn. 

You might have to update your LinkedIn account, or sign up to Xing.

Type faster, click quicker, Social Media Day is almost over. You wouldn’t want to miss out. 

You’re running out of hours faster than you can sign in, sign up or log off. 

Ding. Was that another friend request, retweet or mention on Facebook? 

No time to check. The day is over. You survived Social Media Day. 

You may have missed a deadline, skipped lunch and maybe lost your job. You’re still not sure exactly why. But you survived. 

Only thing is you’re going to have to check back in to all your accounts tomorrow. You wouldn’t want to miss anything that may have happened while you were asleep...
