Megan Werner, the author of It’s Up To Me, is a 14-year-old from Krugersdorp.

It’s not every day that we hear of a teenager aspiring to change the world.

Megan has done that by providing us with the techniques that we should implement in our daily lives to become better people.

She tells the personal story of her life experiences and uses seven examples that we can adopt to make a difference: being a giver, having fun, courage, learning, teaching, showing love and being a good receiver.

In chapter three, young Werner affirms that “we must get out of our comfort zone if we need to grow in life”.

How many times do we complain about things not changing in our lives?

She states: “If you want to change your outcome, then change your input.”

Megan got out of her comfort zone and did a lot of brave things that some adults fear, such as public speaking.

“Recently, I got the opportunity to speak at the National Achievers’ Congress where I had my biggest crowd yet – 5 000 people.”

Young or old, it doesn’t make a difference, we are all surrounded by negative people in all environments.

The author advises never listening to them and never letting anyone tell you you can’t achieve your dreams.

“Although we are not all equal in every aspect of life, we all have different talents and gifts.

"It is up to us to use those gifts to help ourselves, and then to help others,” says the author.

She uses the famous basketball player Michael Jordan as an example.

He was told by one of his teachers that he would never make the grade and possibly never play on his team.

We all know where Jordan ended up.

This book is proving so successful – for young and old readers alike – it’s even being translated into Russian.
