An 11-year-old boy accused of killing a younger child appeared in the Humansdorp Magistrate's Court on Tuesday, said Eastern Cape police.

Warrant Officer Basil Seekoei said the case was postponed to April 23.

"A psychologist is still busy with a report that will assist in determining the child's criminal liability," he said.

The child, who appeared in a magistrate's office instead of a courtroom, was being kept in a place of safety.

On February 25, the boy from St Francis Bay allegedly stabbed a six-year-old boy with a knife while they were on their way home from school.

A passerby found the boy's body in the bushes at around 3am the following morning.
