Two US journalists were killed in a shooting attack while filming a live interview.

Two US journalists were on Wednesday killed in a shooting attack while filming a live interview near the town of Moneta, Virginia, their broadcaster WDBJ7 reported.

Video circulating on social media showed a WDBJ television reporter scream as gunshots were fired, CNN reported.

WDBJ7 said police were looking for a suspect who opened fire on photographer Adam Ward and reporter Alison Parker. DPA Source: News24 BuzzFeed later reported that hours after the incident, the suspected shooter posted his own shocking video of the attacks on social media before shooting and critically injuring himself, but the video was later removed and his Twitter and Facebook accounts subsequently suspended.

He was identified as Vester Lee Flanagan, 41, aka Bryce Williams who is said to have been a disgruntled former employee of the station.

Flanagan shot himself while he was being chased by state police and died later at a hospital.
