Feel you’ve tried everything to shed kilos? Have you thought about these?

1. You eat too little

If you eat too little your body holds into its fat stores.

Solution: Rather eat a low-fat, high-fibre diet that contains about 500kJ less than your usual diet so you’re not starving, but still able to shed weight.

2. Medication

Some medications such as the pill or antidepressants can cause weight gain or prevent weight loss.

Solution: Discuss this with the doctor who prescribed the meds. They may be able to change the medication or dose.

3. Depression

Depression can cause weight gain due to medication but also, you may not feel up to taking on weight loss measures when you’re feeling low.

Solution: Consult a clinical psychologist and/or medical doctor who can suggest alternatives.
