Sands is headed to our shores

The “Tigi” star has been making music for a while but it’s just recently that he trickled into South Africa. He rocked the airwaves of South African radio with his hit single “Tigi”, which has over 1 million views on YouTube.

Here are a few interesting facts that you might have known about Sands.

  • He was raised by his grandparents as his mother studied overseas
  • Growing up he loved music and listened to the likes of Jabu Khanyile, Michael Adams, Michael Jackson, and Tracy Chapman.
  • Sands was taken into mentorship by the Yandza music foundation in 2008.
  • His song Vuma was a huge success and received Best Radio Song, Best Music Video NACA Awards (Swaziland) in 2015
  • He describes his music as a versatile, smooth flowing and rhythmic Swazi soul sound.
  • The artist is now the face of Swazi music in the whole of South Africa undeniably.
  • 850 copies of his album were finished in a space of a week at the Cape Town Musica outlet.

The Swazi musician will be gracing the DRUM Beat Concert in August, performing hits from his album "Sands of time"  and he'll sure have you dancing along.  If you haven’t bought tickets already head to Computicket .
