DRUM reporter Siyabonga Kamnqa talks to Xhosa king Mpendulo Zwelonke Sigcawu about humility and serving his people

Sitting down with a king can prove to be an intimidating task - with all the protocol involved you can't help but feel slightly overwhelmed.

Such is the feeling when we arrive at Nqadu Great Place in Willowvale, Eastern Cape, where we're scheduled to meet with His Majesty AmaXhosa King Mpendulo Zwelonke Sigcawu.

As we wait outside for His Majesty's arrival, his aides try their best to calm our nerve and insist that the King is a "down-to-earth person" who is humble and eady to get along with.

And as is tradition, the aides make it clear that we have to shout his praise name 'Zwelonke' when we meet him.

Then a few minutes later, a silver-grey Mercedes-Benz pulls up in front of the palace and a lank figure in a striped jacket and blue formal pants makes his way inside.
