Joining the long list of actors who are pursuing music, Robert Mpisi says he’s releasing his first single, Impumelelo (Success), early next year.

The Isidingo, Saints and Sinners and 90 Plein Street actor he says through this song he’s thanking “God for all my success”.

He also says music is something he’s always wanted to do, even before becoming an actor. “Growing up my family thought I would become a singer because they knew I had love for music. I sing quite well, so I do vocals on beats.”

But, the acting bug bit when he was in Grade 10. “When I was in Grade 10, we did speech dialogues and when I finished my teacher encouraged me to join her drama class, so I did,” he recalls.

Soon after he finished matric, Lady Luck smiled on him and he clinched a role in SABC1’s drama series Tsha Tsha. Ever since then he’s become one of Mzansi’s most recognisable faces in the industry. He says he’s had a blessed year and looks forward to returning home in the Eastern Cape to “relax and be with family”.
