Another Mandela movie is in the pipeline and the lead actor is a South African actor.

Another Mandela movie is in the pipeline.

Actor Tumisho Masha is set to play Nelson Mandela in the new movie about the former president’s life.

The Daily Sun reports, the movie titled, Mandela’s Gun will look at the time when the former president received military training in Sudan, Ethiopia and Tanzania before the formation of Umkhonto weSizwe.

“I can’t wait to shoot this film,” said Tumisho “I’m happy to be the very first South African actor to play the statesman’s role.”

British director, John Irvin was very excited to get Tumisho to play the leading role.

“In the past, maybe because of commercial wisdom, South Africans have been overlooked by the Americans who have had an interest obviously in making and telling the story of Mandela several times over,” he said.

Following in the footsteps of actors like Morgan Freeman and Idris Elba, there’s no doubt that Tumisho has his work cut out for him.

“I have researched my character well and I’m confident that I’ll deliver a convincing portrayal of Mandela.”

Mandela’s Gun is currently set to be released in May 2014.
