Are you the next Play hero?

Do you snap striking photographs? Or create fashion designs likely to spark the next style trend? Then you could be just what the PowerPlay Heroes campaign is on the scout for.

Energy drink brand PowerPlay is on the lookout for an exceptionally creative photographer and fashion designer to feature alongside acclaimed photographer Max Mogale and Head Honcho fashion line co-founder Nick Kaoma.

The PowerPlay Griffin Sessions are to be held between 30 June and 01 July at the Bus Factory in Newtown, Johannesburg.

Mogale and Kaoma will each hand-pick four finalists who will share the limelight with them. Each winner from both sets of finalists will walk away with R10 000, plus a chance to have the winning fashion designer’s creations sold at the Dope store in Johannesburg.

According to a PowerPlay press statement, the Griffin Sessions “will showcase the talents of the PowerPlay Heroes – seven creative mavericks and leaders in their respective fields – alongside their peers.”

The seven are PowerPlay Heroes are DJ Kenzhero, urban youth culture promoters Thesis (Wandile and Wireless G), Head Honcho’s Kaomo, DJ ID, Dope Store founder Andile Cele, 1808 arts and culture agency (Tshidiso Maduna and Girland Masola) and Mogale.

PowerPlay said that each of the “heroes” represents the seven qualities necessary for creative heroism and success including tenacity, commitment, belief, courage, determination, a heart and desire.

The two-day event will be graced by some of SA’s biggest entertainers like Teargas, Kabelo, AKA, Mi Casa, Lulo Café and Mo Flava among others.

Tickets are on sale now at R125 for a day pass and R240 for a full weekend pass.
