The commission was postponed at its last sitting on October 3 to allow for the declassification of certain documents.

The Seriti Commission of Inquiry into alleged corruption in the 1999 multi-billion rand arms deal resumes in Pretoria on Monday.

Arms procurement parastatal Armscor said it was not involved in procurement in the arms deal.

Acting general manager of acquisitions Dawie Griesel reportedly told the commission there had been a deviation from standard policy procedures.

President Jacob Zuma appointed the commission, chaired by Judge Willie Seriti, in 2011 to investigate alleged corruption in arms deal.

The government acquired, among other items, 26 Gripen fighter aircraft and 24 Hawk lead-in fighter trainer aircraft for the SA Air Force.
