Known for nifty dance moves and a powerful stage presence, his energetic performances mesmerise audiences.

His huge smile and powerful voice command attention in a way that sets him apart from many other gospel stars, so it’s no surprise that he’s been nominated for two South African Music Awards (Samas) this year.

Once Solly Mahlangu starts to sing, you can’t help but want more. As the award-winning singer welcomes us to his home with that infectious smile, it’s immediately obvious that over and above his significant talent, his charisma and exuberance are qualities that keep him on top of his game.

Wearing his signature black cap, Solly ushers us into his three-bedroom house in Birch Acres in the east of Joburg.

It’s been two years since DRUM last spoke to Solly and we have a lot to talk about: he won three Crown Gospel awards last year and there’s his latest project – the show he hosts on One Gospel.
