At home with Somizi

Somizi’s bright new home is as extraordinary as he is

HE’S been described as the “king of South African fabulosity” and it’s easy to see why.

Everything about Somizi Mhlongo is bright, loud and in your face – his clothes, his voice, his infectious laugh – the works. So when the well-known choreographer invites us to have a look at his new flat in central Joburg we’re expecting it to be – well, fabulous. And we’re not disappointed.

The building used to belong to a bank but it’s been refurbished as part of Jozi’s attempt to revive the inner city – and if this is an indication of how the plan is going, it’s pretty impressive.

The stunning New York-style open-plan pad, with its double loft, spiral staircase and wooden floors, is a sight to behold.

Somizi, who turns 41 this year, has been a shining star in the entertainment industry for more than three decades. Actor, dancer,

TV presenter, choreographer – you name it, he’s done it.
