Vocal cord surgery could have destroyed Tamara Dey's voice - but the Flash Republic singer is back on top form.

It's referred to as the "surgery that saves" and several singers have gone under the knife to preserve their most precious instruments - their voices.

From international stars like Adele to John Mayer and Keith Urban, vocal cord surgery has been imperative in their careers.

Local singer Tamara Dey (33) recently admitted to needing the same surgery after suffering to both her vocal cords.

When we chat to her a few weeks after the operation, she's in top form.
