Bongani Zungu and Luyolo Nomandela were the only two uncapped players named in an extended 28-man Bafana Bafana squad for the forthcoming friendlies against Nigeria and Burkina Faso, national coach Gordon Igesund said on Tuesday.

The pair, who play for Mamelodi Sundowns and Free State Stars respectively, were joined by seven players who were part of the recent Cosafa Cup team, while all the other regular faces were back in the mix after missing the competition.

South Africa face the Super Eagles, the reigning African champions, in the Nelson Mandela Challenge in Durban on August 14, followed by the Burkinabe in the Nelson Mandela Sport and Culture Day clash at FNB Stadium on August 17.

Nine players, six from Orlando Pirates and three overseas-based players, will be released for the second game due to club commitments.
