Bake a fragrant herb bread

What could be nicer than the smell of fresh bread filling your home by dinner time? This fragrant herb bread takes only half an hour to make. Try it today!

  • Makes 2 loaves
  • Preparation time: 5 min
  • Cooking time: 25-30 min

You’ll need:

  • 1 kg cake flour
  • 2 sachets (10 g each) instant yeast
  • 10 ml (2 t) baking powder
  • 10 ml (2 t) sugar
  • 10 ml (2 t) salt
  • 10 ml (2 t) dried mixed herbs
  • 10 ml (2 t) dried garlic flakes
  • 1 litre (4 c) water

Do this:

  1. Grease 2 loaf tins with nonstick spray.
  2. In a large bowl combine the dry ingredients, mixing well.
  3. Stir in the water with a wooden spoon to form a sticky dough.
  4. Divide equally between the prepared loaf tins, cover with a tea towel and allow to rise for 25-30 minutes.
  5. Preheat the oven to 180 °C.
  6. Bake the loaves for 30 minutes. Allow to cool and serve with your choice of spread.
