Matlala Mokoko, Miss South Africa 2014 second princess, has been stripped of her title for alleged “breach” of her contract with the pageant’s organisers.

On Sunday 7 December Matlala was crowned Miss Mamelodi Sundowns 2014, during a gala dinner at Gallagher Estate, Johannesburg.

She walked away with R200 000 first prize and a brand new Honda CR-Z.

However, Sun International, long-time licence holder of the Miss South Africa showpiece, released a short media statement stating, “Miss Mokoko will, unfortunately, have to relinquish her title as a Miss South Africa second princess as she is in currently in breach of her contract with Miss South Africa and therefore will have no further obligations to the Miss South Africa pageant, or any future events related to the pageant.”

Claudia Henkel, PR Manager for Sun International, said, “We wish Matlala a very successful reign and know that she will be a great ambassador for Mamelodi Sundowns.”
