Man  arrested for speeding on the N1

A 46-year-old man was caught riding his motorcycle at 228km/h on the N1 highway on Sunday, Johannesburg metro police said.

"He was caught on the N1 north in near 14th avenue, doing 228km/h on his Suzuki motorcycle in an 120km/h zone," said spokesman Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar.

He said the man was arrested four kilometres away from the scene and his motorcycle did not have a number plate.

He was taken to the Honeydew police station and paid a R1500 bail. He was expected to appear in the Roodepoort Magistrate's Court on June 4 on a charge of reckless and negligent driving.
