Fame wasn't my initial goal, says Bonang

Media personality Bonang Matheba is one of the most well known celebrities in South Africa and she is known for many things including her style, but Bonang says that wasn't the thing she wanted to be famous for.

In an except from her book From A to B: Invest In Your Sparkle, Bonang reveals that for her when she started out it was all about getting famous for her work.

"For the first two years, I didn't really care about what I wore on Live. When I say I didn't care what I wore I don't mean I didn't apply my mind, it was just I had a different focus and being a style queen wasn't it," Bonang explains in the book.

For Bonang her goal was to be the best television presenter she could be. "I had grown up watching people like Basetsana Kumalo and Ursula Stapelfeldt cement themselves as TV presenters; I watched their names become synonymous with what good presenting is and I wanted that for myself," she adds.

"As far as fame was concerned, I wanted to be famous because I was excellent," Bonang elaborates.
